Our Mochilas are handmade in Colombia by the women of the Wayuu tribe.  Beyond impressive craftsmanship, each Mochila tells a handwoven tale of timeless tradition.   For the Wayuu people, weaving and crocheting are symbols of womanhood and status.  During their traditional rite of passage known as the “encierro”, girls become women learning to care for a family, a home and to weave and crochet.   Each bag takes approximately 10 days to create and each design is custom made for Sidney Byron.
